Trend Watch: Celebrity Wedding Style

Cupid must have been very busy doing its job in Tinseltown lately as more and more celebrity couples are getting engaged or already tying the knot. The fashion radars of fashionistas are abuzz detecting the latest trends in these high-profile weddings. Many non-celebrity brides-to-be are also on the lookout for what’s hot, be it in wedding hair and makeup, wedding rings and, of course, bridal dresses and gowns. Even guys who are still about to pop the big question may be researching le dernier cri on engagement rings. For this post, however, let’s zoom in on wedding gowns.

A wedding gown plays a central role in a wedding. All eyes would be on the bride, so what better way to present her than in a stunning wedding dress? However, we all know that fashion trends change as fast as seasons change. So to make sure that you are in style when you walk down the aisle let’s find out what’s in vogue in Celebrityville.

The Barely There Material on Top

This sheer weightless material that looks like a second skin, creates a sexy, romantic, dreamlike drama to a wedding gown. Natalie Portman strutted down the garden aisle in an a-line wedding dress that had this feature on top of a strapless bodice. This created a high illusion neckline and made the white dress sexy enough to be in vogue but not too revealing in keeping with the reverent mode of the Jewish rite. To mimic this style, look for dresses with a lace overlay on top of the bodice section or add your own.

The Corset

Considered to be today’s number one trend by some fashion designers, this retro style is the practical choice for brides who don’t want to worry over gaining or losing weight. A great fitting corset will adjust everything for you. Best of all, it makes your waistline look slimmer and your bust bigger. The corsetted strapless Vera Wang gown worn by Kim Kardashian when she exchanged “I do’s” with Kris Humphries enhanced her already voluptuous figure.

The Deep V

You should never get hitched unless you’re sure that you are deep into the relationship. This deep V could be a visual representation of how ready you are to take the plunge. The cavernous V neckline definitely shows skin, but it can be styled to be modest. Anne Hathaway could make use of this style for that possible Grecian wedding dress she was contemplating about when the big day comes for her to exchange vows with Adam Shulman.

 The Slit

This wedding gown trend could be modestly low or daringly high, it’s up to you! Want to have an idea how it looks? Recall that day Angelina Jolie bared her sexy gams dressed in a high-slit gown created by Atelier Versace as she sashayed along the 2012 Oscars red carpet. Could this be a hint of the possible wedding gown of would-be Mrs Pitt?

Interestingly, Jennifer Aniston also made a similar fashion move two years earlier than Angie when she strutted down the 2010 Golden Globes red carpet in her slinky Valentino Couture gown. Could she be sporting the same style when she becomes Mrs. Justin Theroux? Whatever style is big among celebs at the moment, one wedding style trend that would never become out of fashion is wearing one’s heart on one’s sleeve. Remember to wear that on your big day.
